About us
The Nightline is a listening phone by students for students. It is widespread and finds its origin in England, where the first Nightline was founded. In addition to many contact points in Germany, the Nightline has also made its debut in Austria with the founding of Nightline Innsbruck in 2019.
The aim of the Nightline is to be an open ear for the worries of students and to give them a space. The size of your worries doesn't matter, whether it's lovesickness, exam anxiety, loneliness, stress in your flatmate or fears and depressions - we listen to you. We do not judge or condemn you, we do not give tips or advice, but we might find a way together with you.
However, the Nightline is not a professional help line or a therapy service. If necessary, we will refer you to appropriate counseling centers and support you on your way.
The volunteer listeners are students from all kinds of disciplines and semesters and are first trained in conversational skills according to Carl Rogers, the founder of non-directive conversational psychotherapy.
The main principles of Nightline are anonymity (both for you and for us), confidentiality, freedom from prejudice, low-threshold and independence from institutional, denominational as well as financial interests.
